AMSTERDAM, Feb 10 (Reuters) - Belgian market regulator CBFA says:
* In consultation with the relevant foreign regulators, requests that trading in Fortis shares on Euronext be suspended on 11 February 2009
* The purpose of the suspension is to ensure that the market is duly informed and that the General Meeting of Shareholders of Fortis can proceed in an orderly manner.
* Resumption of trading in Fortis shares will be requested as soon as the market has been informed, via a press release from Fortis, of the decisions taken by the General Meeting.
