ProLogis Announces Leasing Activity in Japan / Three New Lease Agreements with Third-Party Logistics Providers Totaling 358,000 Square Feet -

TOKYO, April 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ProLogis , a leading global provider of distribution facilities, announced today the completion of three new lease agreements with third-party logistics providers in Japan totaling approximately 358,000 square feet (33,200 square meters).

"Many businesses are currently contemplating ways to make their supply chains more efficient," said Mike Yamada, president of Japan for ProLogis. "Often this includes consolidating distribution space, utilizing relationships with third-party logistics providers and taking advantage of newer, more efficient facilities. ProLogis is one of the few companies to offer modern, high-quality distribution space in Japan, which attracts ongoing interest from both new and existing customers throughout the country."

The new transactions include leases with: -- Sanyo Electric Logistics Co., Ltd., which leased approximately 151,000 square feet (14,000 square meters) at ProLogis Parc Narashino III, a five-story, multi-tenant facility totaling approximately 459,000 square feet (42,700 square meters). The facility includes a rooftop garden, which helps to provide additional insulation and minimize the amount of energy needed to heat and cool the building, thereby reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 10 percent. With this lease, ProLogis Parc Narashino III is now fully leased. -- Itani Transportation Industry Co., Ltd., which leased approximately 115,000 square feet (10,600 square meters) at ProLogis Parc Osaka II, a distribution facility located at the Port of Osaka, which is one of Japan's primary logistics hubs. ProLogis Parc Osaka II is an eight-story, 1.8-million-square-foot (169,000-square-meter) distribution facility. The building incorporates a number of sustainable features including two four-kilowatt wind turbines, wall-surface greenery and a state-of-the-art, pre-cast concrete seismic isolation system. -- A major Japanese third-party logistics company, which leased approximately 92,000 square feet (8,500 square meters) at a recently developed facility in the Narita market. The park is located approximately 40 miles (64 kilometers) northeast of Tokyo in the Chiba Prefecture and is adjacent to the Narita Airport. Sustainable features include a solar-powered outdoor lighting system, on-site tree preservation and a state-of-the-art, pre-cast concrete seismic isolation system.

ProLogis is one of the largest providers of distribution space in Japan with approximately 8.4 million square feet (779,000 square meters) completed and under development, as well as 98 acres (390,000 square meters) of land. Major ProLogis customers in Japan include DHL, Nippon Express, Panasonic Logistics, Askul, Hitachi Transport System, Seiyu/Wal-Mart, Yamato Logistics, FedEx and Nikon.
