DUBLIN, Oct 3 (Reuters) - Ireland's prime minister said on Saturday he was confident junior coalition partners The Greens would agree to stay in government and would vote in favour of a 'bad bank' plan at a party conference next week.
'I am confident that my government will continue and will take all necessary steps to effect economic recovery as quickly as possible,' Brian Cowen told reporters after he declared victory in a crucial EU referendum.
An early parliamentary election will follow unless Green members voting at a convention on Oct. 10 approve the party's continued role in power and support Ireland's 54-billion-euro 'bad bank' scheme.
