BANGKOK, Dec 1 (Reuters) - Demand for oil products in
Thailand, excluding bitumen and liquefied petroleum gas, rose for
the sixth month in October, up 6.2 percent from a year earlier to
562,056 barrels per day, Energy Ministry data showed on Tuesday.
The pick-up in demand came at a time of relatively low oil prices and optimism that the economy was probably over its worst after falling into recession at the start of the year.
Demand for 95-Octane gasoline fell about 23 percent in October from a year earlier as drivers favoured subsidised gasohol, the data showed.
Consequently, sales of gasohol -- a mix of 91-Octane gasoline and ethanol -- rose 12.8 percent from a year earlier, according to the Department of Energy Business's website, www.doeb.go.th.
Demand for high-speed diesel was down about 18 percent from a year ago, with automotive diesel up 60 percent and fuel oil up 30 percent.
