Japan Fujii: BOJ step is broadly quantitative easing

TOKYO, Dec 1 (Reuters) - Japanese Finance Minister Hirohisa Fujii said on Tuesday he welcomed the Bank of Japan's decision to pump more cash into the banking system, saying the step was quantitative easing in a broad sense.

'I think we can continue to work together in the difficulties of managing the economy,' Fujii told reporters.

He added that it was up to the BOJ to decide whether to increase its outright purchases of government bonds.
