AMSTERDAM, Dec 16 (Reuters) - European Central Bank Governing Council member Nout Wellink warned on Wednesday against being overly optimistic about the global economic recovery, citing debt worries about Greece and Dubai.
'We should not be too pessimistic but also not too optimistic. We are in an uncertain situation. You can see that in the suddenly rising country risks -- Greece, Portugal, Ireland,' Wellink told Dutch TV broadcaster NOS.
'We have seen what has happened in the Middle East, in Dubai. Everywhere under the surface there are weak spots. Let's keep our fingers crossed and operate carefully,' said Wellink, who also heads the Dutch central bank (DNB).
