TOKYO, Jan 29 (Reuters) - Bank of Japan Governor Masaaki Shirakawa said on Friday he saw the central bank's current amount of public debt buying as appropriate for helping funnel funds to the financial market.
Shirakawa also told a forum that stable foreign exchange rates were important and that the central bank always needs to watch how currency moves affect the economy.
But he added that he would not tie monetary policy directly to currency moves.
