Cyprus Jan credit card transaction value falls 13pct yy

NICOSIA, Feb 3 (Reuters) - The value of credit card transactions in Cyprus fell 13 percent in January year-on-year as the global economic crisis crimped consumers purchasing power, data showed on Wednesday.

The value of transactions last month reached 161.06 million euros, and there was a three percent decline in the number of transactions, clearing agency JCC said.

The value of each transaction was on average 75 euros compared to 83 euros a year ago.

Transactions by Cypriots using their credit cards abroad rose 13 percent to 92.3 million euros, it added.
