BRIEF-US FDA warns Nestle, Diamond Foods, Hain Celestial over food labels

WASHINGTON, March 3 (Reuters) - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday:

* Issued 16 warning letters to various companies over 'misleading' food

product labels

* Warned Diamond Foods Inc over labeling for shelled walnuts

* Warned Hain Celestial Group inc's spectrum organic products over

labeling for vegetable shortening

* Warned Nestle SA's dreyer's grand ice cream inc over labeling for

certain ice cream products, Gerber baby foods

* Other warning letters target products by Pom Wonderful, Ken's Foods, Inc.,

Sunsweet Growers Inc., Gorton's, Inc. and Beech-Nut Nutrition Corp,

among others

* FDA posted the letters on its website at
