BANGKOK, March 18 (Reuters) - Thailand's benchmark stock
index was down 0.18 percent at 764.20 at 0359 GMT on
Thursday.
The index came off its 19-month high, after rising for a fifth straight session, due mainly to profit-taking in energy and banking counters.
Stocks on the move include:
BANGKOK METRO UP ON PROFIT HOPES
Loss-making subway operator rose as much as 2.7 percent to 0.76 baht in early trade after the company told Reuters it expected core earnings to be positive for the first time since beginning operations in 2004 due to higher passengers and cost controls.
By 0355 GMT, the share was unchanged at 0.74 baht.

KHON KAEN SUGAR DOWN AFTER WEAK Q1
The fourth-biggest sugar miller fell 0.8 percent to 12.90 baht after it reported a 51 percent drop in first quarter net profit to 201.77 million baht ($6.24 million), due mainly to lower sales and losses at its sugar plants in Laos and Cambodia.

THORESEN THAI DIPS AS GLOBAL FRIEGHT RATE DROPS
The second-largest shipper lost about 1 percent to 25.75 baht in response to a drop in global freight rate, dealers said.
The Baltic Dry Index, which measures the cost of shipping key commodities, dipped 2.03 percent at 3,427 on Wednesday.
Separately, the shipper said its Singapore-listed Mermaid Maritime subsidiary had bought a stake in Qatar's Subtech Ltd for $7.5 million to expand its turnkey sub-sea engineering services in the Middle East.
Qatari-based Subtech is a professional provider of diving services for offshore and sub-sea civil engineering in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf.
'The acquisition of Subtech is one key strategic move to expand Mermaid's business, which will help diversify and balance TTA's overall business growth,' the company said in a statement.
