CIBC
The Canadian bank has named Don Roberts as vice chairman, renewable energy and clean technology in its wholesale banking group.
MERRILL LYNCH
The brokerage's life insurance unit has named Eric Martin to succeed James Purvis as its chief financial officer. Purvis resigned on April 2.
U.S. SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE COMMISSION
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission named Robert Keyes associate regional director and chief of regional office operations in its New York office, a new position. He will assist the regional director and other regional senior officers in managing the office's enforcement and examination case load. Keyes has worked at the SEC since 1996, rising to assistant regional director in 2005. He has a law degree from Georgetown University.
PIPER JAFFRAY & CO
The investment bank named Peter Schwab, formerly a senior member of the restructuring team at Macquarie Capital, as managing director and group head of restructuring. It also hired Teri Stratton, also formerly at Macquarie, as managing director.
THREADNEEDLE
The asset manager's Asian Equity desk hired George Gosden from Insight Investment, where he was part of the international team.
NOMURA
The investment bank named Mikael Dahl, previously a partner at EQT Partners, as co-head of Nordic Investment Banking. Mikael, to be based in London, will report to William Vereker, head of investment banking, Europe, Middle East and Africa, and work alongside Petter Sternby.
FULBRIGHT & JAWORSKI LLP
The law firm said Pamela Jones Harbour, a former Federal Trade Commissioner, had joined as a partner with its antitrust and competition practice.
SIEBERT BRANDFORD SHANK AND CO LLC
The municipal underwriting firm has hired former New York City Comptroller William Thompson as chief administrative officer and senior managing director. Thompson, who will be responsible for developing and implementing policies related to the firm's strategic development, will report to the firm's president and CEO, Suzanne Shank.
ADVENT INTERNATIONAL
The private equity firm hired Will Kussel, formerly president and chief brand officer of Dunkin' Donuts Worldwide, as an executive with Advent's Operating Partner Program.
MCCARTER & ENGLISH
The law firm named Mary Jane Augustine as managing partner of its New York office, making her the first woman to hold that position at the firm.
THURLEIGH INVESTMENT MANAGERS
The independent investment manager has hired Amy Goddard, previously a client relationship manager with Cantor Fitzgerald, as sales and marketing executive, a newly created role.
CARLYLE GROUP
The U.S. private equity firm has hired Eric Kump, head of Dubai International Capital's (DIC) European private equity team. Kump will join as the new managing director in the firm's European buyout team.
CITIGROUP
The company named Michael Zink as country head and Citi country officer (CCO) of its businesses and franchise in Singapore. Zink, who joined Citi in 1988, will continue in his current role as president and executive director of the Guangdong Development Bank till a successor is appointed.
RELIGARE ENTERPRISES LTD
The financial services group named Chief Executive Sunil Godhwani as chairman of the board after Malvinder Singh stepped down to focus on his healthcare business.
QUILTER
The investment management services provider named Paul Sexton as head of its new Salisbury office. Sexton has previously worked with Close Brothers Investment.
FINNCAP
The institutional broker named Sarah Wharry as a director in its corporate finance team and David Stoddart as retail analyst in its research team. Wharry joins from RBC Capital Markets and Stoddart from Altium Securities.
DEUTSCHE BANK
Two senior executives of the German banking giant, who headed units that dealt with investment grade debt and distressed loan sales, have quit the firm, sources said.
Separately, Deutsche Bank announced that Frederick Searby, formerly a co-portfolio manager and analyst at Everkey Global, has joined as a director and Latin America equity strategist in its Global Markets unit. Searby reports to Rizwan Ali, head of equity research for Latin America.
INVESTEC INVESTMENT BANKING AND SECURITIES
The specialist investment bank named Andrew Fitchie as head of research and Mike Jones as corporate finance director heading the resources team. Fitchie was most recently at Collins Stewart, while Jones from Canaccord Capital.
MACKIE RESEARCH FINANCIAL CORP
The group named Kym Anthony as chief executive. Anthony will continue as deputy chairman and has also been appointed head of capital markets of Mackie Research Capital Corp.
