HELSINKI, April 10 (Reuters) - The European Union and the euro will survive the ordeal caused by Greece's debt crisis, but the bloc must make sure the crisis does not spread, EU Economic Affairs Commissioner Olli Rehn told a Finnish newspaper.
'The test will be passed and we will learn from what has happened,' Rehn said in an interview published in Iltalehti on Saturday.
'The euro has been and will be a success story,' he added.
'Decision-makers must act responsibly and aim to prevent any spreading of Greece's 'forest fire'. European decision-makers have already committed to this and support mechanisms are ready if and when they are needed,' he said.
Rehn added the commission would soon present a new proposal on how euro zone countries' economic coordination could be improved and budget oversight tightened.
