TORONTO, July 2 (Reuters) - BP reported a malfunction of a compressor motor that resulted in the release of sulfur dioxide from a flare stack on Wednesday at its 234,000 barrel-per-day Cherry Point refinery in Washington state.
In a filing with regulators, the company said it was possible that permit levels were exceeded. The filing also said that employees were evacuated.
