BERLIN, April 28 (Reuters) - Chancellor Angela Merkel will support the candidacy of Bank of Italy chief Mario Draghi as next president of the European Central Bank, a German newspaper reported on Thursday, removing the last potential source of opposition to the appointment.
Citing German government sources, Bild reported that Merkel had given up looking for a possible German candidate for the post following Bundesbank chief Axel Weber's resignation.
