Russia's OGK-2 first-quarter net profit up 42 pct

MOSCOW, May 24 (Reuters) - Russian power generating company OGK-2, controlled by Gazprom, reported on Tuesday a 42 percent jump in first-quarter net profit to 2.1 billion roubles ($73.76 million).

Revenues rose to 15.5 billion roubles from 13.19 billion roubles a year ago, the company said in a statement.

Russian gas monopoly Gazprom plans to merge OGK-2 with peer OGK-6, which it also controls, by the end of the year, as part of a consolidation of its power-generating subsidiaries, before selling part of the enlarged company in an IPO..
