WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Nektar Therapeutics (NKTR) reported a net loss for the third quarter of $24.1 million or $0.21 per share, compared to a net loss of $8.7 million or $0.09 per share for the year-ago quarter.
Revenue for the third quarter fell to $27.1 million from $37.9 million a year ago, mainly due to the completion as of December 31, 2010 of the amortization of the $125.0 million upfront payment received in 2009 from AstraZeneca for the NKTR-118 and NKTR-119 license agreement.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report a loss of $0.37 per share on revenue of $15.43 million for the third quarter.
