LONDON (dpa-AFX) - Balfour Beatty plc (BBY.L) has been granted construction contracts in the commercial sector totalling 100 million pounds. In Glasgow, Balfour Beatty has won an 18 million pounds contract for 185-221 Buchanan Street for Land Securities to provide a new five-storey residential and retail scheme in the city centre.
Further, in the City of London, Balfour Beatty has been awarded a 57 million pounds two phase contract, to construct AXA Real Estate's Sixty London prime office development. Also, the company has bagged a 25 million pounds contract to deliver an 11-storey office building in the heart of London's financial centre for Viridis Real Estate Service Ltd on behalf of their client Emmatown Properties Ltd.
The company also added that on both London schemes, a high percentage of the building services engineering would be delivered using Building Information Modelling and off-site prefabrication solutions to reduce waste and increase efficiencies. All three projects are due for completion in 2013.
