WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Science Applications International Corp. or SAIC (SAI) was granted a prime contract by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office or USPTO to provide software development integration and testing services in support of the USPTO's Automated Information Systems. The multiple award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity or IDIQ contract has a one year base period of performance, four one-year options, and a total ceiling value of $525 million for all awardees, if all options are exercised. Work would be performed mainly in the National Capital Region or NCR. According to the contract, SAIC would provide software development integration and testing services as required in areas including configuration and program management, production support, and software maintenance and transition. Also, SAIC would help integrate commercial technology products with customized software and database applications as needed. Doug Wagoner, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager noted, 'SAIC's extensive capability in agile software development and testing support services will enable the USPTO to further its mission to protect IP in the U.S. and internationally, and to improve the overall patent and trademark prosecution process.'
