WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Avnet Inc. (AVT) said Thursday second-quarter profit went up to $147.0 million, or $0.98 per share, from $141.0 million, or $0.91 per share. Adjusted earnings for the recent quarter were $172.0 million, or $1.15 per share, compared to $164.8 million, or $1.07 per share, last year. Thirteen analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $1.04 per share. Analysts' estimates usually exclude special items. Sales for the period dipped to $6.69 billion from the prior-year's $6.77 billion, with the Technology Solutions segment registering a 3.5 percent decline in revenues to $3.10 billion. Eleven analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated revenues of $6.74 billion. Looking ahead, the company anticipates third-quarter earnings in the range of $0.94 to $1.02 per share on revenues between $5.95 billion and $6.55 billion. Market consensus currently sees earnings of $0.95 per share on revenues of $6.33 billion.
