WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (JEC) announced Tuesday winning a prime contract from the Air Force Materiel Command, or AFMC, Contracting Directorate which is expected to last seven years and may be worth as much as $1.9 billion. The Design and Engineering Support Program, or DESP, III contract sees the company provide support services for AFMC weapon systems, components and support equipment. The present contract succeeds the DESP II contract under which Jacobs has supplied program management, systems and specialty engineering, logistics support, and research and development since 2005. President and CEO Craig Martin said, 'We have a longstanding relationship with our Air Force customers, and we are excited to have this opportunity to build on our ongoing support and contribute to the success of the AFMC mission.'
