FRAMINGHAM (dpa-AFX) - Staples Inc. (SPLS) Thursday reported appointing Mike Edwards as executive vice president of its U.S. Retail Merchandising segment. Edwards, who last served as president and chief executive officer, or CEO, of Borders Group Inc., is expected to report to the president of the US Retail segment, Demos Parneros. 'Mike brings proven leadership, great knowledge and experience to Staples. Mike will drive innovative merchandising initiatives across our U.S. stores, enabling us to continue to meet the evolving needs of the millions of small businesses and consumers who rely on Staples as their trusted source for office solutions', said Parneros.
