WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - PerkinElmer Inc. (PKI) reported fourth-quarter net loss of $84.6 million or $0.75 per share, compared to a net income of $292.9 million or $2.49 per share last year. Net loss from continuing operations for the quarter was $84.2 million or $0.75 per share, compared to net income from continuing operations of $43.1 million or $0.37 per share in the prior year quarter. On an adjusted basis, earnings for the quarter was $0.62 per share, compared to $0.45 per share in the comparable quarter last year. On average, ten analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $0.51 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items. Revenues for the quarter grew to $540.19 million from $469.97 million last year, while ten analysts estimated revenues of $537.06 million for the quarter. Looking forward to full year 2012, the company forecasts GAAP earnings per share from continuing operations in the range of $1.22 to $1.28 and adjusted earnings per share in the range of $1.98 to $2.04. Analyst currently expect earning of $1.92 per share for the full year 2012. For the full year 2012, the company forecasts organic revenue to increase in the mid single digit range relative to 2011.
