DUBLIN (dpa-AFX) - Aer Lingus Group plc (AERL.L) Monday reported an 5.8 percent improvement in January traffic, on the basis of passengers flown, thanks to a 5.7 percent growth in capacity and a 0.1 percentage point rise in load factor. Traffic on short haul routes was up 8.0 percent, while long haul flights saw a 1.6 percent upsurge. For the month, revenue passenger kilometers, or traffic, climbed to 783 million from 740 million, with available seat kilometers - industry jargon for capacity - of 1.25 billion compared to 1.19 billion a year ago. Load factor was 62.3 percent this year, and 62.2 percent a year ago.
