WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Utility holding company Alliant Energy Corp. (LNT) on Friday reported that its fourth-quarter net income attributable to common shareowners grew to $57 million or $0.51 per share from $47.3 million or $0.43 per share last year.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.56 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Operating revenues grew to $879.2 million from last year's $832.6 million a year ago, while analysts projected $728.43 million. A decline in electric and gas revenues were more than offset by significant growth in non-regulated revenues.

Looking ahead, Alliant Energy said it is adjusting its 2012 earnings per share guidance due to the decision to sell RMT, Inc. in 2012. Earnings per share is now projected between $2.75 and $3.05, compared to previous forecast of $2.80 - $3.10. Analysts project $2.96 per share for the year.
The company backed forecast for Utility earnings per share of $2.65 to $2.85, while trimmed forecast for non-regulated and Parent to $0.10 - $0.20 from previous estimate of $0.15 - $0.25.
