WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Century Aluminum Company (CENX) reported a first-quarter net loss allocated to common shareholders of $3.9 million or $0.04 per share, compared to a net income allocated to common shareholders of $23.0 million or $0.25 per share last year.
On average, 10 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to lose $0.22 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Net sales for the quarter declined slightly to $326.2 million from $326.3 million a year ago.
Analysts expected revenues of $317.14 million for the quarter.
