PARIS (dpa-AFX) - PPR SA (PPRUF.PK, PPRUY.PK), a French multinational holding company specializing in retail shops and luxury brands, said its first-quarter revenues grew 7.9 percent over last year, and also advanced in all geographic areas.
PPR, owner of the Gucci, Puma and Bottega Veneta, said its net sales for the quarter grew to 3.3 billion euros from 2.8 billion euros last year.
Sales from luxury goods division grew 17.8 percent on a comparable basis to 1.46 billion euros, while sales from sports & lifestyle division improved 2.8 percent on a comparable basis to 886.5 million from last year.
The company said this strong start to the year was powered by the fast-paced growth of the Group's businesses in emerging countries which now represent around 37% of revenue for the Luxury and Sport & Lifestyle divisions.
