WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Range Resources Corp. (RRC) reported first-quarter net loss of $41.80 million or $0.26 per share, wider than $25.03 million or $0.16 per share in the prior-year quarter.
Excluding items, adjusted net income for the quarter declined to $24.41 million or $0.15 per share from $35.22 million or $0.22 per share in the year-ago quarter.
Total revenues and other income for the quarter rose 16 percent to $246.89 million from $212.66 million in the same quarter last year.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.13 per share on revenues of $309.67 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
The company said the first-quarter revenue growth was driven by higher production volumes and lower unit costs offset by lower realized prices.
The company noted that it is on track to significantly drive up its liquids production in 2012 while hitting an overall 30 to 35 percent production growth target.
