OTTAWA (dpa-AFX) - First Quantum Minerals Ltd.'s (FQM.L, FM.TO) first-quarter comparative earnings were $119.0 million or $0.25 per share, significantly lower than $206.7 million or $0.48 per share a year ago.
However, net earnings attributable to the company's shareholders jumped to $1.34 billion from $206.7 million last year. Quarterly earnings per share for the recent period were $2.81.
Sales revenues for the first quarter of 2012 improved to $708.8 million from $705.2 million in the comparable period in 2011.
