WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - JetBlue Airways Corp. (JBLU) said Thursday its traffic in April 2012 rose 14.5 percent from last year, on a capacity increase of 7.1 percent. Load factor too registered growth for the month, the company noted.
Traffic, expressed in terms of Revenue Passenger Miles or RPM, for April 2012 rose to 2.86 billion RPM from 2.5 billion RPM last year.
Capacity, also known as Available Seat Miles or ASM, for April improved to 3.36 billion ASM from 3.1 billion ASM last year.
Load factor for April improved 5.5 points from last year to 85.2 percent.
Revenue passengers for April rose 13.3 percent from last year to 2.5 million.
JetBlue said its preliminary passenger revenue per available seat mile or PRASM for April improved 9 percent from last year. For May, PRASM is expected to increase between 3 and 4 percent year-over-year.
