ATLANTA (dpa-AFX) - Southern Co. (SO) Thursday announced the appointment of Mark Crosswhite as executive vice president and chief operating officer. Crosswhile will succeed Anthony Topazi who plans to retire.
Crosswhite will be responsible for the company' operations, including generation, transmission, engineering and construction services, system planning, research and environmental affairs.
Stanley Connally will replace Crosswhite as president and CEO of Gulf Power, a subsidiary of the company that provides electricity and energy services.
John Pemberton will succeed Connally as senior vice president and senior production officer of generation at Georgia Power, company's largest subsidiary serving 2.4 million customers. He will have responsibility for the company's fossil and hydro generation.
Leigh Perry will replace Pemberton as senior vice president and general counsel for the company's operations and Southern Nuclear, a nuclear plant operating company.
