LONDON (dpa-AFX) - International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (IAG.L, BAIRY.PK), formed by the merger of British Airways plc. and Spanish flag carrier Iberia Lineas Aereas de Espana S.A., said that its traffic in March 2014 increased 10.2% from March 2013, on a capacity increase of 13.2%.
Group traffic measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres or RPKs for the latest-month increased 10.2 per cent to 15.53 billion from 14.09 billion RPKs in the same month last year.
Group capacity measured in Available Seat Kilometres or ASKs rose 13.2 per cent to 19.995 billion from 17.67 billion ASKs in the previous year month.
But, Passenger load factor for the month declined 2.2 points to 77.6 percent from 79.8 percent in the prior year.
The airline carried a total of 5.68 million passengers in the latest-month, up 29.9 percent from last year's 4.37 million passengers.
Traffic and load factor were affected by the timing of route launches this month, and Easter, which fell in March last year, but falls in April this year.
The Group performance comprised British Airways, Iberia (including Iberia Express) and Vueling.
