FORT LAUDERDALE (dpa-AFX) - Citrix Systems Inc. (CTXS) reported that its first-quarter net income was $56 million, or $0.30 per share, compared to $60 million, or $0.32 per share in the comparable quarter last year.
Non-GAAP net income was $119 million, or $0.64 per share, compared to $117 million, or $0.62 per share, prior year. On average, 34 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit of $0.59 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Total net revenues were $750.82 million, compared to $672.90 million prior year. Analysts expected revenue of $732.17 million for the quarter.
Looking ahead to the second quarter, the company expects GAAP earnings per share in the range of $0.21 to $0.24, non-GAAP earnings per share in the range of $0.57 to $0.59 and net revenue in order of $765 million to $775 million. Analysts expect the company to report second quarter earnings of $0.68 per share on revenue of $785.07 million.
For fiscal 2014, the company now expects GAAP earnings per share in the range of $1.61 to $1.71, non-GAAP earnings per share in the range of $2.90 to $2.95 and net revenue to grow by approximately 8.5 percent to 10 percent. Analysts now expect the company to report fiscal 2014 earnings of $2.91 per share on revenue of 9.10%.
Earlier, the company expected GAAP earnings per share to be in the range of $1.58 to $1.69, non-GAAP earnings per share in the range of $2.85 to $2.95 and net revenue to grow by approximately 8 percent to 10 percent.
