WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - F5 Networks, Inc. (FFIV)reported net income for the second quarter of $69.6 million or $0.91 per share, compared to $63.4 million or $0.80 per share for the year-ago quarter.
Excluding items, adjusted net income for the second quarter was $96.9 million or $1.27 per share, compared to $84.7 million or $1.07 per share in the prior year quarter.
Revenue for the second quarter rose 20% to $420.0 million from $350.2 million a year ago.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $1.25 per share on revenue of $414.37 million for the second quarter. Analyst' estimates typically exclude special items.
Looking forward to the third quarter, the company forecasts revenue of $428 million to $438 million, earnings of $0.99 to $1.02 per share and adjusted earnings of $1.33 to $1.36 per share. Analysts currently expect the company to earn $1.33 per share on revenue of $428.70 million for the third quarter.
