BRUSSELS (dpa-AFX) - Swiss stocks were flat on Monday, faring better than other European markets on the strength of gains in the financial sector.
The Swiss Market Index was up 0.03 percent at 8.513.96.
Julius Baer dominated the headlines today, taking back recent losses after reporting increased profit for the first half of the year.
The bank also said it was acquiring new businesses from the Israeli lender Bank Leumim and will settle its U.S. tax case within months.
Baer's assets under management increased 8 percent in the first six months of 2014 compared with the previous six months.
The stock rose 8.3 percent, while Credit Suisse added 0.6 percent.
Roche will delay making big acquisitions for now, the drug maker's CEO said over the weekend. Shares rose 0.4 percent.
