BRUSSELS (dpa-AFX) - Swiss stocks posted notable gains on Tuesday, led by banker Julius Baer for a second day in a row.
The Swiss Market Index rose 0.94 percent to 8.594.21, but underperformed gains in most other European markets.
The region breathed some relief after Ukraine rebels handed over the black box from the crashed Malaysia Airlines jet.
Shares of Actelion were up 2.5 percent after the Swiss biopharmaceutical company more than doubled its first-half profit and upgraded its guidance for the full year 2014.
Credit Suisse Group AG shares were down 1 percent as the Swiss bank posted a bigger-than-expected loss for the second quarter.
Julius Baer rose 2.8 percent and ABB picked up 3.5 percent.
