BRUSSELS (dpa-AFX) - Swiss stocks were flat Wednesday, overcoming a slightly negative start to spent most of the session bouncing around the unchanged line.
The Swiss Market Index rose 0.13 percent on a quiet day in the European markets. Investors focused on stock-specific news amid a flurry of earnings reports.
ABB rose 1.6 percent after the firm reported second-quarter income from continuing operations before taxes of $985 million, compared to $1.12 billion last year.
Julius Baer trimmed strong recent gains with a 1.1 percent loss.
Syngenta shares dipped 1.7 percent after saying sales rose in the first half of the year by 1 percent.
EFG posted a net loss, but shares rose 3.5 percent.
Autoneum said net profit rose 27.9 percent in the first half. The stock slipped 7.9 percent.
