SPRINGFIELD (dpa-AFX) - O'Reilly Automotive Inc. (ORLY), Wednesday reported second-quarter net income of $205.6 million or $1.91 per share, up from $177.1 million or $1.58 per share last year.
Sales for the second quarter grew 8 percent to $1.85 billion from $1.71 billion last year.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $1.85 per share on revenues of $1.83 billion for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.
Looking forward to the third quarter, the company expects earnings of $1.91 to $195 per share on comparable store sales growth of 3 to 5 percent. Analysts currently estimate earnings of $1.94 per share for the quarter.
For fiscal 2014, O'Reilly raised its outlook for earnings to a range of $7.00 to $7.10, from the prior outlook of $6.82 to $6.92 per share. However, the company maintained its outlook for full-year revenue of $7.0 billion to $7.2 billion.
Analysts currently estiamte earnings of $7.06 per share on revenues of $7.15 billion for the year.
