SUMMIT (dpa-AFX) - Celgene Corp. (CELG) reported second-quarter net income of $598 million or $0.72 per share, compared to $478 million or $0.56 per share, on a split-adjusted basis. Adjusted net income was $748 million or $0.90 per share, for the quarter.
On average, 24 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $0.89 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Net product sales were $1.85 billion compared to $1.56 billion, a year ago. Total revenue was $1.87 billion compared to $1.60 billion, prior year. Analysts expected revenue of $1.85 billion for the quarter.
The company raised fiscal 2014 total revenue guidance to approximately $7.60 billion from $7.50 billion, an increase of approximately 17 percent year-over-year. Thee company raised adjusted EPS guidance to a range of $3.60 to $3.65 from the previous range of $3.50 to $3.60. GAAP EPS is expected to be in the range of $2.46 to $2.55 from the previous range of $2.47 to $2.59. Analysts expect the company to report fiscal 2014 earnings per share of $3.67 on revenue of $7.54 billion.
