WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Plum Creek Timber Company, Inc. (PCL) reported that its second-quarter net income was $55 million, or $0.31 per share, compared to $46 million, or $0.28 per share in the previous year quarter.
On average, ten analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $0.30 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Revenues rose to $356 million from $303 million in the comparable quarter last year, while nine analysts expected revenue of $353.73 million for the quarter.
Looking ahead to the third quarter, the company expects earnings in the range of $0.27 per share to $0.32 per share. Analysts currently expect third quarter earnings of $0.46 per share.
For fiscal 2014, the company lowered its earnings to a range of $1.05 to $1.25 per share from its prior range of $1.30 to $1.50 per share. Analysts now expect the company to report fiscal 2014 profit per share of $1.39.
