WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Southwestern Energy Co (SWN) Thursday reported second-quarter net earnings of $207 million or $0.59 per share. This compares with earnings of $246 million or $0.70 per share last year, including a $93 million gain on derivative contracts.
Revenue for the quarter was up at $1.04 billion, compared with $862 million a year ago.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters projected earnings of $0.59 per share on revenue of $978.7 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Oil and gas production for the quarter totaled 189 billions of cubic feet equivalent (bcfe), up 18% from last year.
For fiscal year 2014, the company now expects production of 758 to 764 bcfe, up from prior guidance of 740 to 752 bcfe.
