SEATTLE (dpa-AFX) - Amazon (AMZN) announced that it has introduced new Kindle tablets and e-readers.
Amazon announced the introduction of 7th generation of Kindle: Kindle Voyage, the most advanced e-reader ever, and the new $79 Kindle, with a 20% faster processor, twice the storage, and now with a touch interface. New Kindle Voyage is thinnest, most advanced Kindle ever, with brightest, highest resolution, and highest contrast display, plus reimagined page turns-$199.
Amazon also launched the new Fire HD, featuring a quad-core processor, front and rear-facing cameras, an HD display, incredible reliability, and a world-class ecosystem of exclusive features, services, and content. The new Fire HD tablets are available in two sizes-6' for $99 and 7' for $139-and five color choices: black, white, cobalt, magenta, and citron.
Amazon introduced the all-new Fire HDX 8.9, which combines a startlingly light design and stunning HDX display with a new, more powerful processor, exclusive Dolby Atmos and the latest Dolby Audio, and all-new Fire OS 4 'Sangria' features and services. The new Fire HDX is available for pre-order starting today for just $379.
Amazon also introduced Fire HD Kids Edition, the first tablet built from the ground up for kids (and their parents). Fire HD Kids Edition is $149 for a 6' tablet and $189 for a 7'.
The company unveiled Fire OS 4 'Sangria,' the next generation of software and services . It starts with Android and improves on performance and ease of use with features like ASAP and Smart Suspend. The company stated that Fire OS 4 will come pre-loaded on the new Fire HD and Fire HDX tablets, and will be available as a free, over-the-air update for all 3rd generation Fire tablets.
