NORTH KANSAS CITY (dpa-AFX) - Cerner Corp (CERN), a provider of health information technology, said Thursday the U.S. Federal Trade Commission granted early termination of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) Antitrust Improvements Act in connection with the company's purchase of Siemens Health Services for $1.3 billion.
The early termination of the HSR waiting period satisfies one of the conditions to the closing of the pending acquisition.
The transaction remains subject to other customary closing conditions and is still expected to close in the first quarter of 2015.
In August, Cerner announced its plans to acquire Siemens Health Services as a way to advance industry innovation, combine complementary client bases and combine R&D investments.
