BERLIN (dpa-AFX) - Fraport AG (FRA.DE, 0O1R.L, FPRUF.PK), the owner and operator of Germany's Frankfurt Airport or FRA, Monday reported growth in passengers at FRA in September, while cargo throughput remained unchanged.
FRA, Germany's biggest airport, reported growth of 5.9 percent year-on-year, by welcoming about 5.88 million passengers in September. This was its strongest September in history.
Furthermore, FRA achieved a new daily record on September 26, when it served nearly 214,000 passengers. On 11 other days in September, FRA exceeded the 200,000 passenger-per-day mark.
FRA's cargo throughput, airfreight and airmail, remained constant at 178,667 metric tons. Aircraft movements slipped 0.2 percent to 42,452 takeoffs and landings, amid over 400 flight cancellations due to strikes.
Accumulated maximum takeoff weights or MTOWs rose 2.5 percent to more than 2.6 million metric tons.
In Fraport's international portfolio, growth was 7.2 percent in Peru's Lima Airport, while Burgas and Varna in Bulgaria saw declines of 6.8 percent and 1.1 percent, respectively.
Turkey's Antalya Airport reported a 2.6 percent drop, while traffic at St. Petersburg's Pulkovo Airport in Russia improved close to 10 percent.
The stock closed down 2.4 percent in Frankfurt on Friday at 47.80 euros.
