WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Missouri-based utility company Ameren Corp. (AEE) Thursday reported third-quarter net earnings decreased to $293 million or $1.20 per basic share, from $301 million or $1.24 per basic share a year earlier.
Income from continuing operations were $1.20 per share, down from $1.25 per share in the comparable quarter last year. On average, six analysts polled by Thomson-Reuters estimated the company's earnings to be $1.22 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.
Operating revenues increased to $1.67 million, from $1.64 million last year, while two analysts expected revenue of $1.67 billion.
Ameren now expects earnings per share to be in a range of $2.30 to $2.45 for 2014, compared to the prior range of $2.30 to $2.50 per share. The company expects earnings to grow at a 7 percent to 10 percent compound annual rate through 2018. Analysts expect earnings of $2.38 per share.
