LONDON (dpa-AFX) - Rolls-Royce Holdings Plc. (RYCEF.PK, RR.L, RYCEY.PK) Friday said it has secured an order worth $5 billion for Trent engines and long-term TotalCare service support from the Atlanta, Georgia-based Delta Air Lines, Inc. (DAL) to power 50 new aircraft.
Rolls-Royce noted that the order will result in an increase in the Group's order book of $3 billion.
According to Rolls-Royce, Trent XWB engines will power 25 Airbus A350s and Trent 7000 engines will power 25 Airbus A330neo aircraft.
The company noted that Trent 7000 was launched this year as the exclusive powerplant of the new A330neo and has already been selected to power a total of 152 aircraft.
Nat Pieper, vice president of Fleet Strategy and Transactions, Delta Air Lines stated that the move will be a vital part of its future, that will provide a new level of excellence on its Pacific, Atlantic and Latin American routes.
Rolls-Royce's has more than 40 years of relationship with Delta Air Lines. Rolls-Royce has customers in more than 120 countries.
Last week, Rolls-Royce said it was maintaining the guidance, excluding certain charges, for 2014, 2015 and the medium-term outlook.
RR.L closed Thursday's trading at 854.5 pence, up 1.24 percent.
