CANBERA (dpa-AFX) - The euro strengthened against the other major currencies in the early European session on Thursday.
The euro rose to a 2-day high of 1.5834 against the NZ dollar, from an early 1-month low of 1.5742.
Moving away from an early 1-week low of 1.2018 against the Swiss franc, the euro edged up to 1.2028.
Against the U.S., Australia and Canadian dollars, the euro advanced to 2-day highs of 1.2239, 1.5088 and 1.4229, from early lows of 1.2187, 1.5014 and 1.4169, respectively.
The euro edged up to 0.7859 against the pound and 147.02 against the yen, from early lows of 0.7835 and 146.61, respectively.
If the euro extends its uptrend, it is likely to find resistance around 0.79 against the pound, 1.205 against the Swiss franc, 1.228 against the greenback, 148.38 against the yen, 1.52 against the aussie, 1.60 against the kiwi and 1.44 against the loonie.
