IRVINE (dpa-AFX) - Broadcom Corp. (BRCM) said it has expanded its low-power Outdoor Unit or ODU satellite device portfolio by introducing a new low-power satellite device. The company noted that the BCM4554 will address consumer demand for satellite services with support for North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific regions.
The new device adds support for up to 32 resident set-top boxes or STBs on a single coaxial cable within a multiple dwelling unit, enabling operators to deliver additional services to more subscribers without requiring new satellite dish installations. These offerings also enable operators to improve services such as faster channel changing by assigning more channels to a single STB.
