WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - A Southwest Airlines passenger was forced to deplane a flight from Dallas to Chicago as he wore a profane 'Broad City' T-shirt, reports said.
The passenger, a college student named Daniel Podolsky, was wearing a T-shirt promoting the Comedy Central show 'Broad City,' with the 'F***ing' spelled out between Broad and City.
Podolsky managed to get into the Southwest flight as his T-shirt was covered with a jacket.
But when the flight, due to inclement weather, made an unscheduled stop at Lamber Airport, St. Louis, Podolsky got out to use the rest room and at that time had taken off the jacket.
When he tried to re-board the flight, he was confronted with gate agents who stopped him, and was then reportedly escorted by airport police from the terminal.
Podolsky is reported to have told KTLA sister station KTVI he would have 'gladly' corrected himself if a chance had been given, like taking the shirt off or covering it up. But video reports shows otherwise.
'It's only when I got back on the plane when it was gonna take off, ya know, you have this much space, you're gonna take your jacket off because it's hot,' reports KTVI, quoting Podolsky. 'I took my jacket off, so he sent someone to remove me from the flight.'
Podolsky reportedly defended his attire and broached upon freedom of speech, while the Southwest employees said the airline prohibits passengers from wearing such clothes.
Southwest was said to have defended the actions of its employees.
As for the passenger, he was reported to have later boarded a flight to his final destination in New York after agreeing to change his shirt.
