WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - International Paper (IP) announced it has reached a definitive agreement with MeadWestvaco Corp. (MWV) to sell the Carolina coated bristols brand. The company's decision to sell the Carolina brand was a result of its plans to convert the Riegelwood N.C., Mill to 100 percent fluff and softwood pulp production, thereby eliminating the manufacturing capability to produce the brand.
International Paper plans to invest $135 million to expand fluff pulp production at the Riegelwood N.C. Mill.
Carolina is a line of coated one-side and coated two-side solid bleached sulfate paperboard that is available in a range of sizes, calipers and specifications for use in offset and digital printing end use applications such as direct mail, retail signage, brochures, lottery tickets, game and greeting cards.
