CANBERA (dpa-AFX) - Australian police, after a series of raids, arrested five teenagers who were planning for a terrorist attack next week. The five member team, all aged 18-19 years, was inspired by Islamic State outfit.
They were targeting a high profile attack on April 25 at the Anzac Day, the centenary celebration of the landing at Gallipoli during World war one. All were arrested from Melbourne in Victoria state. The arrested young men are suspected to be associates of Numan Haider, who was gunned down by terrorist police last year.
Prime Minister Tony Abbott said everything humanly possible was done to keep people safe at the event. Australia has raised its threat level after a Sydney cafe siege
